Being a Local Authority Community School, our curriculum follows the National Curriculum in Years 1 – 4 (for ages 5 – 9) and the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum in our Reception Class (for ages 4 – 5). For further information, please visit The National Curriculum in England link.
Campton Lower School has its own School Curriculum which provides many enrichment opportunities: for learning French; for physical activity – including inter-school competitive sport and for the creative arts – music, drama and dance.
• French is taught by a native French speaker to all age groups (including pupils in our Reception Class.)
• A whole year of swimming lessons is organised during Years 3 & 4 (for pupils aged 7 – 9.)
• All children from Years 1 – 4 are taught once a week by a specialist sports’ coach.
• Older pupils receive additional expert coaching opportunities.
Whole class singing and instrumental opportunities are provided by Central Bedfordshire’s Inspiring Music team and peripatetic music teachers regularly visit the school to offer individual or group lessons on a variety of instruments.
Campton drama productions have become an established part of school life, with all classes participating in a major drama or music production at some time during the year.
